Dangerous dog registration

MOUNT CARMEL - Northumberland County Dog Warden Mark Rusinko filed misdemeanor charges of failing to register a dangerous dog and failing to pay the $500 registration fee for a dangerous dog against Chloe C. Wydra, 36, of 299 Ralpho Road, Elysburg, at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones Feb. 11.

Rusinko said Wydra previously pleaded guilty to harboring the dangerous dog "Jake." She was sent two invoices for payment of the license along with a request for verification of the license, rabies vaccination and current insurance policy, which is required for owners of dangerous dogs, and failed to respond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 11.

DUI, drugs

MOUNT CARMEL - Ryan Joseph Peters, 20, of 656 Pine St., Kulpmont, was charged with misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia after Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell said he found him passed out in a vehicle in the Strong Turkey Hill parking lot shortly before midnight Jan. 15.

Campbell said a red glass smoking device with black stripes and a clear sandwich bag filled with a green and brown vegetative substance was sitting on Peters' lap. Campbell said when he attempted to turn off the vehicle through the open driver's side window, Peters woke up and asked, "Hey Campbell, what's up?" An odor of synthetic marijuana known as Spice emanated from the vehicle, Campbell said.

Campbell said Peters failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital where he tested positive for Oxycodone.

DUI, suspended license

MOUNT CARMEL - John Vincent Shustack, 49, of 545 Spruce St., Kulpmont, was charged with two misdemeanor each of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession with the intent to use drug paraphernalia and summary offenses of failure to use taillights and driving with a suspended license after Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell pulled him over for driving without taillights around 8:30 p.m. Jan. 11.

Campbell said he identified Shustack during the stop and realized there was an active bench warrant for his arrest. As he was taking Shustack into custody, he discovered two clear plastic baggies containing a powder-like residue, a glass tube that appeared black from burnt residue and four syringes, including one in Shustack's left inside jacket pocket, Campbell said.

A blood test revealed psychoactive stimulants and methamphetamine in Shustack's blood, the criminal complaint said.

Drug paraphernalia

MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph Smallets Jr., 27, of 213 South Oak St., Apt. 1, Mount Carmel, was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Cpl. David Donkochik with one misdemeanor count of possession with the intent to use drug paraphernalia after he nearly overdosed at around 8 p.m. Feb. 6 in his apartment.

Donkochick said he arrived at Smallets' apartment to discover him face down on his bed and unresponsive, but breathing. EMS arrived and administered Narcan to Smallets, who became alert and oriented. He said he had injected seven bags of heroin and then felt funny and became ill, Donkochick said. He was observed attempting to look for his syringes, which were taken by EMS for safe disposal after they were located by responders, Donkochik said.

Smallets' mother, who was at the scene, said he had been battling a drug addiction and has been attempting to get help, Donkochik said.

Retail theft

MOUNT CARMEL - Regina Marie Merritt, 55, of 206 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Keith Tamborelli with felony retail theft for allegedly stealing a pack of coffee from the Mount Carmel CVS at around 4:30 p.m. Feb. 8.

Tamborelli said when he arrived Merrit said, "I shoplifted." She was barred by CVS management from returning to the store.

Drug paraphernalia

MOUNT CARMEL ­­- Michael B. Laskowski Jr., 37, 310 S. Chestnut St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Patrolman William Adamski with a misdemeanor count of possession to use drug paraphernalia after he was allegedly found to have a red bag with a multi-colored smoking pipe containing a burnt residue inside, rolling papers and trace amounts of green vegetation, reported by another resident of the house to be Spice, at around 4 p.m. Jan. 20.

Assault, disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Matthew Duceman, 38, of 126 Vermont Drive, Kulpmont, was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Keith Tamborelli with a misdemeanor count of simple assault and a summary offense of disorderly conduct for an incident occurring Nov. 30.

Tamborelli said Duceman has become upset at the victim and reached into the victim's rear driver's side window and slammed the victim's head into the dash of the vehicle while he was simultaneously hugging a child in the car.

The victim suffered bruising and a cut to the head and was treated at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Christopher Kern, 34, of 1435 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Edward Purcell with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under suspension, careless driving and overtaking a vehicle on the right relating to a Jan. 25 accident at 1829 Trevorton Road.

Police reported Kern, who had a blood-alcohol content of .136 percent, passed a vehicle on the right on Route 225 (Trevorton Road) by traveling off the berm onto the shoulder before coming back onto the highway. Police said Kern then lost control of his car, which crossed into the oncoming lane, went into a yard and struck two parked vehicles.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Edward Purcell has charged John Weidensaul, 39, of 225 A St., Girardville, with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under suspension, reckless driving and careless driving in connection with a Sept. 27 accident at the intersection of Route 61 and entrance to Walmart Supercenter.

Police said Weidensaul was under the influence of methamphetamine and Alprazolam when his car crashed into the back of a stopped vehicle that was waiting to turn into Walmart.

Knife at school

COAL TOWNSHIP - Charges were filed against a 16-year-old male student at Shamokin Area Middle/High School after he brought a knife onto school property Feb. 12.

Township police said the male came to school at 7:50 a.m. that day a with a knife in his jacket pocket. The male allegedly told a school security officer that he forgot it was in his pocket and surrendered the knife. A charge of possession of a knife on school property will be filed through Northumberland County Juvenile Services.

Indecent exposure

NEW CASTLE TOWNSHIP - An Ashland man faces charges of indecent exposure after an incident in the Schuylkill Mall parking lot at 8:15 a.m. Jan. 23.

According to state police at Frackville, Eric A. Warner, 28, of Ashland, was seen masturbating in front of a female by a mall security officer. He was charged by state police with indecent exposure, and charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, of Port Carbon.

One-vehicle crash

LYKENS TOWNSHIP - A Pillow man was not injured in a crash at 11:10 p.m. Feb. 6 on North Crossroads Road near Luxemburg Road in Lykens Township.

State police at Lykens said a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by Thomas A. Deibler, 65, of Pillow, was traveling north on North Crossroads Road when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail along the northbound shoulder.

The PT Cruiser then crossed the southbound lane, turning sideways across the northbound lane and struck an embankment, before coming to rest in the middle of the road.

Deibler was not injured, but police said he would be cited for careless driving.

Criminal trespass

SHAMOKIN - Chad C. Zerby, 19, and Crystal Mann, 18, both of 121 W. Montgomery St., Shamokin, were cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for criminal trespass involving an incident at 6:17 p.m. Wednesday at a property at Montgomery and Diamond streets.

Charges withdrawn

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of burglary, criminal conspiracy (two counts), criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen and loitering and prowling at night filed by Lt. Christopher Buhay against Edward J. Kleman, 28, of Mount Carmel, were withdrawn Wednesday because a co-defendant/witness was unable to attend a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones; the co-defendant/witness is incarcerated in Virginia.

The charges relate to the theft of a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu owned by Kyle Patrick between Sept. 12 and Sept. 13 from 113 N. Locust St. Kleman and Michael McGinley, of Mount Carmel, a co-defendant/witness in the case, were apprehended Sept. 14 by state police in Virginia following a vehicle and foot pursuit.

Police said the stolen vehicle was crashed and sustained severe damage.

Kleman remains incarcerated at SCI-Coal Township on other charges, according to police.

No testimony

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of simple assault and harassment filed by Ralpho Township Patrolman Chris Grow against Bryan R. Bland, 36, of 24 Clair St., Elysburg, were withdrawn Wednesday when the alleged victim, Jasmine Deitz, failed to appear for a preliminary hearing scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

Police said Bland is accused of assaulting his stepdaughter at his home Feb. 8.

Drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Matthew Dillman has charged Ashley M. Knopp, 25, of Mount Carmel, with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a Jan. 4 incident at 118 S. Orange St.

Police reported Knopp possessed acetaminophen, codeine phosphate, tramadol and diazepam and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Defendant sentenced

SUNBURY - Darnel Roque, 33, of 813 E. Dewart St., Shamokin, was sentenced Thursday by Northumberland County Judge Charles Saylor to six months of intermediate punishment with the first 30 days on house arrest for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Roque also was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus costs.

An additional count of driving under the influence and summary offenses of driving without insurance and careless driving were not prosecuted.

Roque was charged by Shamokin police in connection with a June 16 multiple-vehicle accident in the 100 block of South Market Street.

SUNBURY - Nine defendants, including six charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, were sentenced Monday in Northumberland County Court.

- Lisa Velazquez, 28, of Levittown, formerly of Mount Carmel, was sentenced by Judge Charles Saylor for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia to six months of intermediate punishment and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus costs. She also had her driver's license suspended for one year and must continue to undergo counseling and drug rehabilitation. Velazquez is prohibited from attending bars and drinking alcohol.

She was charged by Shamokin police in connection with a Jan. 27, 2013, incident.

- Darlene Scandle, 41, of Coal Township, was ordered by Saylor to pay a $150 fine plus costs after pleading guilty to a summary offense of harassment. An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.

Scandle was charged by Coal Township police with punching Angela Sickora in the face and grabbing both her arms, causing injury, while the victim was running in the 1200 block of Burnside Street Sept. 12.

Scandle previously paid $100 restitution in the case.

- Scott Wright Jr., 32, of Rebuck, was sentenced by President Judge William H. Wiest for driving under the influence of a controlled substance to one year of intermediate punishment, with the first six months on house arrest. The defendant also was ordered to pay a $1,500 fine plus costs and had his license suspended for one year.

Wright was charged by Shamokin police relating to a May 17 incident.

- Veronica Strohecker, 21, of Coal Township, was sentenced by Wiest for driving under the influence of alcohol to two days in Snyder County Prison, beginning March 2. She also was fined $500 plus costs and will have her driver's license suspended for 12 months. She is prohibited from drinking alcohol and attending bars.

Strohecker was charged by Coal Township police in connection with a Nov. 22, 2012, incident.

- Stacy Mantz, 38, of Kulpmont, was sentenced by Wiest for driving under the influence of alcohol to six months probation and ordered to pay a fine and costs. She also had her license suspended and is prohibited from drinking alcohol and attending bars.

Mantz was charged by state police at Stonington in connection with an Aug. 17 incident.

- Saylor sentenced Colton Trego, 25, of Herndon, for driving under the influence of alcohol to six months of intermediate punishment, with the first 30 days on house arrest. He also was ordered to pay a $750 fine plus costs, had his driver's license suspended for 12 months and is prohibited from attending bars and drinking alcohol.

Trego was charged by state police at Stonington in connection with a Jan. 20 incident.

- Joseph Candelora, 50, of Sunbury RD, was sentenced by Saylor to three days in Snyder County Prison on two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol relating to incidents Nov. 21, 2013, and July 4, 2014. He was charged in both cases by state police at Stonington.

Candelora also must pay a $1,000 fine plus costs, had his driver's license suspended for one year and is prohibited from attending bars and drinking alcohol.

- Stephanie Lichty, 36, of Shamokin, was sentenced by Saylor to two years probation for a felony of criminal conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver a controlled substance involving an April 18 incident in Ralpho Township.

The judge ordered Lichty to continue to undergo counseling and drug rehabilitation and fined her $100 plus costs.

- Steven Ennis, 32, of Mount Carmel, was sentenced by Saylor to 18 months probation on a firearms offense and simple assault charge involving a Dec. 28, 2013, incident in Mount Carmel.

Ennis must pay $200 in fines plus costs and make $966 restitution to Shawn Soliday and $1,142.70 restitution to the Victims Compensation Assistance Program.

Disorderly conduct

KULPMONT - Five individuals were cited for disorderly conduct following a disturbance in the 700 block of Scott Street at 11:57 p.m. Wednesday.

Ashley McElhone, 20, Marc Tisdale, 28, and Suzanne Gross, 21, all of Kulpmont, Sabrinia Malsey, 20, of Ranshaw, and Joshua Linn, 20, of Sunbury, were cited by Kulpmont Police Patrolman David Tomtishen.

Kids hurt in crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - Two children were treated at the scene for injuries sustained during a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 61 and Feeney Street near McDonald's at 7:53 p.m. Saturday.

Coal Township Police said a 2004 Honda, driven by Erwin Wilson, 36, of 110 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin, was stopped in the passing lane at the traffic light when the vehicle was struck from behind by a 2001 Ford F-250 truck, driven by Shane Drumheller, 32, of 721 Center St., Coal township.

Wilson's passengers, an 11-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl were injured in the crash and Wilson's vehicle had to be towed from the scene. Police cited Drumheller for driving with a suspended license, careless driving and a seat-belt violation.

False reports

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - A couple involved in a Jan. 30 two-vehicle accident at the "S" turn on Route 901 near Locust Gap have been charged by Patrolman Matthew Filarski with lying about who was driving one of the vehicles.

Shane J. Geary, 31, of 308 N. Turnpike St., Mount Carmel, and his girlfriend, Tara Jo Duzick, 31, of 1439 W. Fern St., Coal Township, are each charged with two counts of making false reports to police. Geary also faces charges of driving under suspension and failure to drive in a single lane.

Police reported Geary and Duzick agreed to tell police that Duzick was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Tracker involved in the crash because Geary has a suspended driver's license and is on probation in Northumberland County.

Melinda Guaba, the driver of a Mazda 6 involved in the crash, identified Geary as the driver, police said.

Geary and Duzick later admitted to police that they provided false reports.

Man pushed into window

MOUNT CARMEL - Jake Donte Stellar, 25, of 245 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, has been charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct involving a Jan. 2 disturbance at Showcase Billiards, 33 S. Oak St.

Police reported Stellar pushed Troy Tafner into a glass window, causing it to break. Tafner hit the glass with his head, but reportedly did not suffer any injuries and refused medical treatment, police said.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - Lt. Christopher Buhay has charged Michael S. Bernatowicz, 60, of 233 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, with driving under the influence of alcohol, fleeing or attempting to elude police, reckless driving and failing to comply with regulations involving an approaching emergency vehicle.

The charges relate to a Feb. 9 incident in which Bernatowicz allegedly drove a vehicle onto a sidewalk and struck a snow bank at Third and Maple streets.

Police said Bernatowicz, who allegedly was intoxicated, failed to submit to a blood test.

Theft charge

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Justin Stelma has charged Kevin Michael Karpovich, 21, of 38 N. Maple St., Apt. 2, Mount Carmel, with theft and receiving stolen property.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Karpovich is accused of stealing medication belonging to his live-in girlfrend, Cara Yuskoski, on Jan. 18 or Jan. 19 at their apartment.

DUI offense

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Jonathan Garcia, 22, of 428 W. Fig St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Chris Dailey with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under suspension relating to a July 25 incident in the parking lot of Glosser's Motor Inn along Route 487 near Elysburg.

Police said Garcia had a blood-alcohol content of .166 percent.

Harassment

HERNDON - Three Herndon residents were cited for harassment by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington in connection with incidents that occurred within 10 minutes of each other Saturday night.

Darren Anthony Fancher, 44, of 145 S. Main St., was cited for harassment for allegedly urinating on the porch of Mark Walter Greb, 56, of 151 S. Main St., at 9 p.m.

At 9:10 p.m., police said Greb and Donna Lynn Long, 47, of 145 S. Main St., engaged in a physical altercation regarding Long's dogs and the previous incident that resulted in both being cited for harassment.

Criminal trespass

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone broke the front door handle and gained access to a property at 3413 Route 61, Shamokin Township, owned by Coldwell Banker Real Estate, Lewisburg, between Feb. 9 and Tuesday.

Accident victim identified

SHAMOKIN - Bernadette Wysock, of Shamokin, has been identified by city police as the driver of a blue Ford Escape that crashed into a parking meter and telephone pole near 51 E. Lincoln St. Sunday night.

Police said Wysock was transported by AREA Services Ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where she underwent emergency room treatment before being released.

Police are continuing their investigation.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Sean M. Percy Jr., 18, of 104 N. Beech St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman Jason Drumheller for harassment for allegedly having inappropriate physical contact with a 14-year-old female at 10 p.m. Feb. 10 at the victim's residence.

Threats made

MOUNT CARMEL - Shawna B. Houser, 21, of 328 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, was cited by Lt. Chris Buhay for harassment for allegedly calling, texting and threatening BillieJo Artman approximately 35 times in a two-hour period Feb. 10.

Public drunkenness

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Jason Drumheller has cited Andrew Snyder, 47, of 350 S. Vine St., Mount Carmel, for public drunkenness.

Police reported Snyder, who was intoxicated, was found at midnight Feb. 19 attempting to gain entry to a residence in the 300 block of East Center Street that he thought was his home.

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Justin Stelma cited Jacob S. Timothy, 31, of 20 W. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness involving an incident at 3:20 a.m. Monday.

Police said Timothy was observed intoxicated and urinating near Union National Bank at Third and Oak streets.

Burglary charges

MOUNT CARMEL - A 13-year-old Mount Carmel boy and a 14-year-old Mount Carmel Township male were charged by Patrolmen Matthew Dillman and Justin Stelma with burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property relating to incidents in the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 4 p.m. Jan. 12 and 6 p.m. Jan. 13.

Theft

MOUNT CARMEL - Amanda April Bailey, 28, formerly of 855 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was charged by Kulpmont Police Chief Michael Pitcavage with misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after she allegedly removed $1,580.45 in items when she was evicted from her apartment.

Pitcavage said Bailey's former landlord, John Quinn, went to his property at 855 Chestnut St. to clean out the garbage left behind by Bailey. He noticed a refrigerator, stove, three smoke detectors, 14 light bulbs and 14 window blinds that had accompanied the apartment when leased were missing.

Bailey told Pitcavage that she thought she had permission to take the items.

She was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones and released on $5,000 bail.

Burglary, trespass

MOUNT CARMEL - Jolene Deanna Hartley, 23, of 357 Walnut St., Mifflinburg, was charged by Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Samuel Edwards with felony burglary and criminal trespass and misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking for an incident occurring on Sept. 24 at 2523 Snydertown Road, Rush Township.

Hartley's aunt and uncle, unidentified in the criminal complaint, notified police on Sept. 25 that two piggy banks containing approximately $600 were missing from their residence and they suspected Hartley had taken them the previous day when they left their front door unlocked.

Hartley's boyfriend, Kyle Mordan, admitted he was with Hartley while she entered the unlocked residence and exited holding two piggy banks, but denied involvement.

She was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones and released on $10,000 bail.

Hit and run, DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - Heather Ann Slovinsky, 39, 1127 W. Montgomery St., Coal Township, was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Cpl. David Donkochik with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence and a misdemeanor count of accidents involving damage to attended property and summary violations of driving without insurance, failure to yield while driving backwards and failing to provide information after an accident for an incident that occurred at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 29 on the zero block of South Locust Street.

Syringes found

SHAMOKIN - A pile of more than 25 syringes were found outside the front entrance of The News-Item, 707 N. Rock St., at 1:11 a.m. Thursday, according to police.

Cpl. Bryan Primerano said a man walking by, Dylan Purcell, of 12 S. Vine St., Shamokin, reported the discovery out of concern for public safety.

Primerano said most of the syringes were broken into pieces and the tips on the majority of the syringes were broken off or removed. He said they were photographed and disposed of in a biohazard container at Shamokin Police Station.

DUI near Walmart

STONINGTON - State police have charged Edward Joseph Kleman, 28, of Mount Carmel, with driving under the influence after an incident that occurred at around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday on Route 61 near Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township.

Police said Kleman was observed traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Route 61 at the intersection near East End Auto in a 1995 Honda Accord. He cut another vehicle off and crossed the fog line several times, police said.

A traffic stop was conducted and Kleman displayed signs of being under the influence, police said. He was arrested for driving under the influence and charges are pending blood results.

Multiple charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Brandon T. Chapman, 20, of 119 S. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Jason Drumheller with driving under suspension, possession of drug paraphernalia, underage drinking and operating an unregistered vehicle relating to a Feb. 2 traffic stop in the first block of East Fifth Street.

Thomas Jude Boylan, 20, of 827 Scott St., Kulpmont, who was a passenger in the car, also was charged by Drumheller with underage drinking and possession of drug paraphernalia.

DUI charge

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Charles M. Chapman, 67, of 327 S. Fifth St., Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. Bryon Chowka with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol involving a Feb. 6 incident in the parking at McDonald's on West Valley Avenue in Elysburg.

Police said Chapman had a blood-alcohol content of. 339 percent.

Guilty plea

M0UNT CARMEL - Marie Elizabeth McWilliams, 26, of 309 N. Maple St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty Wednesday to disorderly conduct and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a fine and costs totaling $469.

An additional charge of scattering rubbish was withdrawn.

McWilliams was charged by Patrolman William Adamski in connection with a Jan. 12 incident in the first block of North Oak Street.

Traffic citation

STONINGTON - The driver of a 2011 Chrysler PT Cruiser that slid off Route 61 and across the Masser's Restaurant parking lot on Feb. 19 was cited for a traffic violation.

State police at Stonington said James F. Garrity, 74, of Paxinos, was cited with failing to stay in his lane of travel.

Police said the 6:43 a.m. crash occurred when Garrity lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a right curve and attempting to switch lanes. His vehicle traveled across the highway and struck a utility pole and parking block in the parking lot, stopping up against the concrete porch of the restaurant.

Snowy conditions had been reported the day of the accident.

Jordan crash details

STONINGTON - State police at Stonington have identified a driver and passenger injured in a crash that occurred at around 4:30 p.m. Saturday on Hooflander Road in Jordan Township.

Police said Rosalinda E. Bryant, 50, of Ranshaw, was driving east when she lost control of her 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle crossed the westbound lane and struck a dirt embankment then rolled into its roof and came to rest on the road.

Bryant suffered a moderate injury and was taken to Geisinger Medical Center by Americus Ambulance. A passenger, Quincy M. Bryant, 19, of Ranshaw, suffered a minor injury and was also taken to Geisinger by Americus.

Rosalinda Bryant was cited with driving too fast for conditions. It was snowing at the time of the crash.

Harassment

STONINGTON - State Trooper Thomas C. Leib has charged Joshua Lee Brosius, 34, of 3764 Line Mountain Road, Klingerstown, in connection with shoving and throwing items at a 30-year-old woman from Coal Township at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday at his home.

Driver in crash ID'd

STONINGTON - State police at Stonington have identified the driver injured in a one-car crash Sunday on Elysburg Road (Route 54) in Rush Township as Mark W. Moser Jr., 31, of Kulpmont.

Police said Moser was traveling south in a 2005 Jeep Liberty at around 12:46 p.m. when he drove off the right side of the road. He overcorrected and traveled into the oncoming lane of travel, then overcorrected again, causing his vehicle to spin. The Jeep struck a guard rail and rolled down an embankment.

Moser, who was wearing his seat belt, suffered a minor injury and was taken to Geisinger Medical Center by Danville Ambulance. A 2-year-old boy from Ashland in the vehicle was uninjured but was also transported to Geisinger.

Moser was cited with failure to maintain a safe speed.

Harassment

STONINGTON - A 16 year-old Shamokin male is charged with harassment. State police at Stonington said the teen grabbed a 48-year-old woman by the arm inside an East Cameron Township residence Tuesday. The Northumberland County Mental Health Department and AREA Services Ambulance assisted.

Criminal trespass

RUSH TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are looking for information on the drivers of snowmobiles who traveled on posted property at 90 Bellas Hollow Road without authorization between 10 a.m. and noon Sunday.

Police said Shirley Beury, of 176 Mason Lane, Selinsgrove, took note of the snowmobiles and notified police. Anyone with information is asked to call 570-286-5601.

PFA violation

TREVORTON - Kyle Ryan Dunkelberger, 29, of Trevorton, was charged by Zerbe Township Police Chief Robert John with violating a protection from abuse order by allegedly calling Mandy L. Kessler approximately 15 times by cell phone between Jan. 22 and Feb. 3 at 331 W. Market St.

Dunkelberger was arraigned Thursday night by on-call Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum and committed to Snyder County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.

DUI

STONINGTON - Jarrod Zachary Savidge, 21, of 1810 Plum Creek Road, Sunbury, was charged by Trooper Nicholas Berger of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving, reckless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.

According to police, Savidge had a blood-alcohol content of 0.129 percent when he led police on a five mile high-speed pursuit Feb. 7 that ended at Captain Bloom and Plum Creek roads.

Crash

RIVERSIDE - A Mount Carmel man was injured when he crashed into a utility pole Friday in Rush Township.

Jared M. Smith, 32, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier east along Route 54 near Hower Road when, according to state police at Stonington, he began to fall asleep. The vehicle drifted off the road and struck the pole about 12:40 a.m.

Smith was wearing a seat belt. The vehicle was towed. Citations are pending, police said.

Dog bite

COAL TOWNSHIP - Tammy Stuck, 44, of 1027 E. Race St., rear, was charged by Coal Township police for allowing her dog to run at large after it bit two people at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police said Stuck let her dog out to go to the bathroom and it bit Anthony Ortona, 57, of 202 Melrose St., Marion Heights, while he as putting fuel oil in a home to the rear of the residence. The dog bit Ortona on the hand, causing it to bleed, and he was taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital for treatment.

After Ortona was bitten, Robert Blusius, 55, of 408 S. Rock St., Shamokin, knocked on Stuck's door to learn what had happened. When Stuck opened the door, the dog came out and bit Blusius on the leg, resulting in scratch marks. Blusius said he would seek treatment at G-SACH.

The incidents will be further investigated by the state dog officer.

Crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - Trisha Rosini, 18, of 146 S. Second St., Shamokin, was uninjured after she lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a curve on the 1600 block of Maple Avenue, Coal Township, at 3:40 a.m. Sunday.

The 2004 Chevrolet she drove left the road and crashed into fencing at the corner of the playground and then struck a large tree, said Coal Township police.

The vehicle sustained heavy damaged and was towed from the scene. A section of fencing and poles were damaged at the playground. Rosini will be cited for careless driving, said police.

Disorderly conduct

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrick Henz, 32, of 1333 W. Water St., Coal Township, was charged by Coal Township police with disorderly conduct for yelling obscenities and throwing items at and attempting to break into the home of Amy Carl, 30, of 867 W. Spruce St., at approximately 5 p.m. Feb. 23.

Crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - Joseph Llewelynn II, 46, of 1468 Pulaski Ave., was not injured in a crash that Coal Township police said occurred at around 12:30 a.m. Monday on Route 901.

Police said Llewellyn was driving a 1999 Chevrolet east on Route 901 when he lost control of the vehicle due to slush. His vehicle spun around and struck the fencing surrounding the pond causing damage to several feet of fence. The car sustained minor damage to the rear bumper and a flat tire.

A passenger, Daniel Ghouchani, 39, also of 1468 Pulaski Ave., was not injured.

Crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - Firmin H. Abdill V, of 421 E. Spruce St., Shamokin, was taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital by AREA Services after he lost control of his 2006 Chevrolet Malibu on Route 901 due to slush on the road at around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Coal Township police said Abdill's car slid across the roadway and struck a guardrail. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

Collision

COAL TOWNSHIP - Two drivers were not injured after their vehicles collided on Main Street in Ranshaw shortly before noon Sunday.

Coal Township police said Angela M. Quackenbush, of 210 Main St., Ranshaw, was traveling west on Main Street in her 2011 Nissan Rogue when she lost control of the vehicle on the snow-covered roadway. She slid across the roadway and struck a 2004 GMC panel truck driven by Jarad M. Zarkowski, of 432 Webster St., Ranshaw.

Quackenbush complained of pain in her right wrist but declined medical treatment. Zarkowski wasn't injured. The Quackenbush vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. The Zarkowski vehicle sustained moderate damage.

Quackenbush will be cited for lacking vehicle insurance, said police.

Crash

FRACKVILLE - Jonathon F. Steckley, 30, of Mount Carmel, lost control while driving a 1997 Ford F-150 on snow-covered Interstate 81 in Frailey Township at around 2:45 p.m. Sunday.

State police said Steckley's vehicle struck a guard rail on the eastern berm and came to a final rest in the left lane facing a southern direction. He was not injured in the crash.

Steckley will be cited for failing to stay in his lane, state police said.

Multiple charges

MOUNT CARMEL - A 19-year-old borough man has been charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with multiple offenses involving two incidents in January.

Dustin Michael Rogers, whose last known address is South Locust Street, is charged with criminal conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal conspiracy to commit criminal trespass, criminal conspiracy to commit theft, criminal conspiracy to commit receiving stolen property and corruption of minors.

Rogers is accused of conspiring with a 13-year-old borough male and 14-year-old Mount Carmel boy to steal $5 from the residence of George Page, of 232 E. Fourth St., Jan. 13. Police said Rogers and the two juveniles used the money to purchase beef jerky, tea and Cheetos.

Police said the teens have been charged through juvenile petitions with theft-related offenses.

Rogers also was charged by Dillman with possessing 1.8 grams of Spice and drug paraphernalia Jan. 14 in the first block of South Locust Street.

Rogers was arraigned Thursday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and committed to Snyder County Prison in lieu of $30,000 bail on all charges.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Bradley E. Keister, 39, of 239 W. Pine St., Shamokin, was charged by Coal Township police for a hit-and-run crash Feb. 21 at Route 61 and Feeney Street.

Patrolman David Sage reported he responded to the crash site at 11:31 p.m. Feb. 21 when the victim, James Tomedi, said he was stopped for a red light at the intersection when a van without its headlights on came into the intersection and struck Tomedi's vehicle on the driver's side, then continued to travel south on Route 61, entering the McDonald's parking lot and then drove out onto Feeney Street and toward the bowling alley.

Police said a witness followed the van and observed the driver drop off a female passenger on Bear Valley Avenue. Shamokin police then received a report of a hit and run at Keister's address. Police said in an interview, Keister allegedly admitted to being the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle, saying he was scared because he had been drinking and driving without a license.

Charges of accidents involving death or personal injury, accidents involving death or personal injury while not property licensed, failure to give information or render aid, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, and driving without headlights were filed by Sage with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Officer assaulted

COAL TOWNSHIP - An inmate at SCI-Coal Township was charged with assault and related charges after attacking correctional officers in a dining hall on Feb. 3.

State police at Stonington reported in court documents that the inmate, Steven M. Ingram, 23, of 1 Kelley Drive, Coal Township, was approached by a corrections officer, Ethan S. Weisenberger, when he saw Ingram skip a seat. When confronted, Ingram cursed at Weisenberger, who walked away and reported the incident to a superior officer. When Weisenberger and a sergeant returned to Ingram, the inmate began to berate the officer. When told to turn around and be cuffed, Ingram struck Weisenberger with his food tray. The two struggled, and as he was taken to the ground, Ingram bit Weisenberger on the right wrist, police said.

Police charged Ingram with a felony count of aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of simple assault, resisting arrest and harassment.

Drug buy money stolen

SHAMOKIN - Thomas J. Scott, 33, of 508 W. Pine St., was charged with delivery of a controlled substance and theft by unlawful taking by Shamokin City Police Cpl. Bryan Primerano following an undercover drug buy Feb. 27.

According to court documents, Scott contacted an undercover police officer about selling prescription-controlled substances and heroin. A deal was struck over the telephone for Scott to sell suboxone and a bundle of heroin to the officer for $350.

The officer left the Shamokin police station at 2:10 p.m. with the controlled buy money and met Scott on Spruce Street, then travel with him to Washington Street. During the ride, Scott handed the undercover officer three suboxone pills, took possession of the $350 and then left the vehicle to get the heroin.

Scott did not return to meet the officer, even when Scott insisted over the telephone he was getting the drugs. At 5:52 p.m., Scott was arrested at his Pine Street home, turning over $200 of the money.

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin, on Feb. 27 and placed in Snyder County Prison on $20,000 bail.

Drug charges filed

COAL TOWNSHIP - Nadine Miller, 36, of 140 W. Ogden St., Girardville, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a medical emergency Nov. 21 at the Panda King Restaurant, Coal Township.

Coal Township Police Patrolman Ed Purcell said in court documents that a small amount of heroin in a bag and items used to inject heroin were found on the floor of the restaurant's bathroom after Miller had a medical emergency there.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Bar assault

SHAMOKIN - Robert T. Tloczynski, 49, of 519 S. Eighth St., Shamokin, was charged with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly struck Cory Thompson in the face, knocking him to the ground, and then striking him in the face and head several times with his hands at approximately 1:30 a.m. Feb. 16 at the Independence Fire Company.

Video surveillance showed that as patrons were pulling Tloczynski off Thompson, he broke free and kicked Thompson while he was lying on the floor.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Charges dropped

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of burglary, criminal trespass and theft by unlawful taking against Jolene D. Hartley, 23, of 357 Walnut St., Mifflinburg, were dismissed during her preliminary hearing Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, when the victims failed to appear for the hearing.

Hartley was charged by Trooper Samuel Edwards of the Pennsylvania State Police's Stonington barracks for an incident Sept. 24, 2013, at a home on Snydertown Road, Snydertown.

DUI charges filed

SHAMOKIN - Jill C. Steiff, 26, of 1012 Fountain St., Ashland, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence and careless driving by Shamokin City Police Officer Scott Weaver.

The charges stem from a Dec. 2 traffic stop in the area of Pine and Fifth streets, Shamokin. The complaint was filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

SHAMOKIN - Three defendants pleaded guilty Tuesday during separate preliminary hearings before Magisterial District Judge John E. Gembic III, while all charges were withdrawn against a fourth defendant.

n Three counts of theft by unlawful taking were withdrawn against Jeremy D. Weikel, 39, of 427 Main St., Coal Township, after a settlement was reached with the victim. Weikel was accused of stealing $4,500 in items between November 2013 and May 2014 from a Coal Township property owned by Dave McGuinn, of Paxinos.

n Kevin R. Manning, 57, of Box 373, Coal Township RR 3, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. He was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus court costs. A count of summary harassment was withdrawn. Charges were filed related to a fight Aug. 30 outside Brady Fire Co. in Ranshaw.

n Matthew Fabian, 19, of 51 Mountain Road, Shamokin, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. He was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus court costs, and serve one year of supervised probation. Counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance were withdrawn. Fabian was a passenger in a vehicle stopped at a sobriety checkpoint Sept. 20 along Route 61 near the Shamokin/Coal Township line.

n Tiffany Vezo, 22, of 9 Raspberry Hill, Shamokin, pleaded guilty to a harassment citation. She was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus court costs. Counts of simple assault and harassment were withdrawn. Charges stemmed from a fight at her home Dec. 13.

Drivers identified

SHAMOKIN - The school bus driver and car operator involved in an accident Tuesday morning near the intersection of Lincoln and Market streets have been identified by police.

Chief of Police Darwin Tobias III reported John B. Rowe, 74, of 1321 W. Arch St., Coal Township, was driving an International school bus containing 24 students at Shamokin Area Middle/High School west on Lincoln Street at 7:20 a.m. when he stopped for a traffic light at Market Street. The bus was then struck in the rear by a car operated by Darnell Lewis, 18, of 33 N. Franklin St., Shamokin, who was cited for following a vehicle too closely.

A 14-year-old female passenger in Lewis' car from Shamokin suffered a minor head injury and was taken by private vehicle for a medical evaluation. Rowe, Lewis and the students escaped injury.

The bus sustained minor damage. The car sustained extensive front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

DUI charges

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Jason John O'Hara, 41, of 426 W. Mulberry St., Shamokin, has been charged by township Chief of Police Brian Hollenbush with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and failure to drive in a single lane relating to a Jan. 22 incident on Route 2038 near Regency Warehouse.

Police said O'Hara was found slumped over the wheel of his vehicle and under the influence of Alprazolam, Oxycodone, Sertraline, Desmethylsertraline, Amitriptyline and Notriptyline.

Drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Matthew Dillman has charged Kyle James Knopp, 22, of 342 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, with possessing Spice and possessing a purple smoking pipe at his residence July 24.

The charges were filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

Two injured

COAL TOWNSHIP - Two people were injured Friday morning when a car struck a concrete barrier and rolled onto Route 61 near the former Ames Plaza.

Coal Township police reported Christine L. Jeffery, 28, of 554 Chestnut St., Apt. 1, Kulpmont, was driving a 2012 Dodge Journey north on Route 61 at 8:41 a.m. when her auto traveled to the left and hit the center concrete barrier. The car then went to the right, ascended an embankment and traveled along the embankment before rolling onto the highway.

Jeffery and her passenger, David Swatski, 33, of 543 E. North St., Marion Heights, suffered injuries and were transported by AREA Services Ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where they underwent emergency room treatment before being released.

Also assisting police at the scene were members of Brady and East End fire companies, and Coal Township fire chiefs Russell Feese and Michael Timco.

The accident remains under investigation.

Pickup rolls

DORNSIFE - Kyle Z. Davis, 24, of Dornsife, escaped injury in a rollover crash shortly after midnight Tuesday in Washington Township.

State police at Stonington said Davis was driving a 2000 Ford F350 north on Slutter Valley Road, near Ferster Valley Road, about 5 miles south of Dornsife, when he began to fall asleep. The vehicle veered off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and rolled onto its driver side.

Davis was wearing a seat belt. He was cited by Trooper David Myers with violating the traffic code driving on roadways laned for traffic. His vehicle was towed.

Pillow and Herndon fire departments assisted at the scene.

Mailbox damaged

PITMAN - Stephanie Reiner, 27, of Pitman, reported damage to her mailbox along Peach Tree Lane in Upper Mahanoy Township between 4:30 p.m. Feb. 19 and 7 a.m. Feb. 20, state police at Stonington reported Saturday.

Check stolen

HAMILTON - A personal check was stolen from Mary Deitman, 84, of 45 Sun Valley Drive, and cashed for $300 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Feb. 10, according to state police at Stonington. An investigation continues.

Vehicle damaged

PAXINOS - Abigail Rose Troutman, 19, of Coal Township, reported her vehicle's glove compartment door was disabled with an unknown object while the vehicle was parked at Masser's Farm Market along Route 61 in Shamokin Township. The incident occurred about 8 p.m. Feb. 18, state police at Stonington reported Saturday.

Rollover crash

PLUM CREEK - Tricia R. Heiser, 26, of Shamokin, suffered a minor injury in a crash Feb. 12 in Shamokin Township, state police at Stonington reported Saturday.

Heiser was driving a 2008 Suzuki Reno east on Captain Bloom Road near Plum Creek Road about 10:30 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle. It traveled up a snow embankment and rolled onto its roof, coming to rest in a residential yard. She was treated at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.

SUV rolls

SNYDERTOWN - A Sunbury woman suffered a moderate injury in a rollover crash Sunday along Snydertown Road.

According to state police at Stonington, Kristen M. Kratzer, 24, was driving a 2006 Jeep Commander west near Zimmerman Hollow Road about 4 a.m. when the vehicle drove off the right side of the road. It struck a rock wall and a caution sign before rolling onto its driver side, sliding across the roadway and coming to rest in the eastbound lane.

Kratzer was taken by a Sunbury area ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was listed in fair condition Sunday evening, according to a nursing supervisor. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt.

The roadway was closed between Snydertown and Sunbury until the wreckage was cleared.

Kratzer will be cited by Trooper David Boucher for violating the vehicle code, driving on roadways laned for traffic.

2 hurt

PAXINOS - Two local men suffered minor injuries in a broadside collision Saturday along Route 61 in Shamokin Township.

According to a press release issued Sunday by state police at Stonington, Steven D. Clark, 50, drove a 1991 Geo Prizm from Irish Valley Road onto the state highway and into the oncoming path of a southbound 2011 Toyota Corolla driven by Steven T. Dodge, 29, of Ranshaw. The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m.

Both vehicles stopped on the berm along the northbound lanes, across from the Irish Valley Road tunnel. The Toyota sustained heavy front-end damage, and its front and side airbags deployed. The Prizm sustained heavy damage on its driver side.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, as was a passenger in the Geo, Amanda E. Noll, 35, of Danville. Clark will be cited by Trooper Mark Adams for a stop sign violation, police said.

Elysburg Fire Department and Ambulance, Overlook Fire Department and AREA Services ambulance responded.

Theft

HUMMELS WHARF - Karen E. Taormina, 25, and Elizabeth J. Howey, 27, both of Sunbury, were charged by state police at Selinsgrove with retail theft for an incident Friday at Walmart along Route 11/15 in Monroe Township, Snyder County.

Drunk driving

COAL TOWNSHIP - Two motorists were charged last month with two counts each of driving under the influence stemming from a field sobriety checkpoint along Route 61 Sept. 20.

Kimberly Finlan, 41, of 708 W. Coal St., Trevorton, was driving a 2006 Jeep when she was stopped about 2:50 a.m. Donald E. Kistler, 55, of 1546 Tioga St., Coal Township, was driving a 2011 Ford truck when he was stopped about 12:30 a.m.

Police said both failed field sobriety testing. Finlan had a 0.151 percent blood alcohol content, while Kistler's was 0.134 percent, according to criminal complaints.

Charges were filed Feb. 19 by Coal Township Patrolman Terry Ketchem and Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Keith Tamborelli.

Drug charge

SHAMOKIN - Donna M. Shaffer, 37, of 46 Adams St., is charged by Patrolman Ray Siko II with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said she illegally possessed six oxycodone pills, a plastic straw and an Access card, both containing white residue, found inside a kitchen cabinet at her home about 4:15 p.m. Jan. 28. Police were dispatched to the scene during a probation check of neighboring 44 Adams St.

Crash charges

SHAMOKIN - John Traas, 22, of 514 S. Diamond St., is charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with three counts of driving under the influence, and one summary count each of careless driving, accidents involving damage to unattended property and drivers required to be licensed. Police said he had a blood alcohol content of 0.207 percent and tested positive for marijuana following a crash about 10:40 p.m. Dec. 28 near Market and Spruce streets. Traas had crashed a sedan into a utility pole before driving off and was found at a nearby bar, police said.

Code violations

SHAMOKIN - Four owners of blighted properties will be cited by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for violating the city code.

Richard K. Miller, 41, of 395 Old Route 15, Port Trevorton, was cited for 102 S. Pearl St. The rain gutter is detached, the chimney is collapsing, the roof is deteriorated and there is broken glass, according to the citation.

Christopher M. Elsayed, 39, of 201 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, was cited for 116 W. Sunbury St., where police said building materials and shingles are falling off, glass is broken and the building's southeast corner is collapsing.

Tracy Carmen, 35, and Jessica Kruleski, both of 106 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, were cited for allegedly allowing household trash to pile up on their front porch. Previous warnings were ignored.

Burglary

DELAWARE TOWNSHIP - State police at Milton reported someone broke into the residence of Rebecca Miller, 40, of 6340 Musser Lane, and stole jewelry and an Xbox having a total value of $3,295.

Police said the burglary occurred between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday.

Driver cited

COAL TOWNSHIP - Christine Jeffery, 28, of 554 Chestnut St., Apt. 1, Kulpmont, was cited by Patrolman Chris Williams for careless driving, driving under suspension and failure to wear a seat belt in connection with a one-vehicle accident Friday morning on Route 61 near the former Ames Department Store.

Telephone scam

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here have received multiple complaints from residents who received telephone calls from a person claiming to be with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Police said the person with the IRS threatens to sue or have the resident locked up if they do not pay money, allegedly to the IRS.

Police warned residents to never give out personal information over the phone and advised them to contact the IRS about the messages at 1-800-829-1040.

Fuel thefts

TREVORTON - Zerbe Township police are investigating thefts of diesel fuel and home heating oil in Trevorton last week.

Diesel fuel was siphoned from two vehicles parked along Mahanoy Street, near Ninth Street, March 4. The value of the stolen fuel is unknown.

Sometime between March 2 and 4, a side door to a Market Street home was opened, with 100 gallons of home heating oil siphoned from a tank.

Sexting

TREVORTON - Zerbe Township police said a 15-year-old girl received an obscene picture via text message from the cell phone of an unidentified 21-year-old male.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Joshua Waylon Buck, 33, of 406 Walnut St., Sunbury, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with public drunkenness for an incident in the 500 block of North Shamokin Street about 3:15 a.m. Saturday.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Catherine M. Campbell, 34, of 9 E. Commerce St., was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with harassment and disorderly conduct. Police said she attempted to fight a male inside her home at 11:59 p.m. Monday.

Key found

SHAMOKIN - A vehicle key was found Wednesday morning at Grant and Elm streets and turned over to the Shamokin Police Department, 511 N. Franklin St.

Burglar sought

SHAMOKIN - An investigation continues into an attempted break-in at a home on the first block of East Commerce Street at 2:35 a.m. Thursday.

City police chief Darwin Tobias III said officers searched the area but could not locate a suspect. The investigation continues.

Rig strikes car

SHAMOKIN - A tractor-trailer struck a parked car on Sunbury Street (Route 61) in Shamokin at 9:43 a.m. Thursday.

The tractor trailer, owned by Shelba D.J. Thomas Trucking, of Thomasville, N.C., was traveling north on Sunbury Street when the driver, Justin Dorley, made a left turn onto Liberty Street to make a delivery at Bader's Furniture. The rear bumper of the trailer struck a parked 2013 Honda Accord owned by Jordin Bednar, of Sunbury, causing significant damage to the left rear of the car. The trailed suffered no visible damage.

Wave to cousin causes crash

ATLAS - Two vehicles crashed Thursday just off the viaduct near Mount Carmel.

Heather Frank, 30, of Mount Carmel, driving a 2007 Ford Escape, was attempting a left turn from Route 61 onto Wilburton Road about 11:30 a.m. Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush said Frank noticed a cousin standing on the south berm, waved to the cousin, and accelerated from the turning lane into the southbound lane. She drove into the oncoming path of a 2012 Toyota Tacoma and the vehicles collided. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed.

John Koschoff, 63, of Marion Heights, driver of the Tacoma, was taken by AREA Services Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Assisting at the scene were Mount Carmel Lt. Chris Buhay and Kulpmont Fire Police.

Argument over utility bill

SHAMOKIN - Elizabeth M. Cruz, 33, of 20 E. Lincoln St., was charged by Patrolman William Zalinski with two counts of simple assault and harassment following a domestic incident at 3 p.m. Monday at 914 E. Chestnut St.

Police said Cruz argued with Marie Feliciano and Angel Cruz over utility bills. The argument escalated and Elizabeth Cruz punched Angel Cruz in the left side of his face and Feliciano on her right side, according to police. Both suffered swelling on their faces, while Feliciano also suffered a cut below her right eye.

Cruz was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and released on $2,500 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
