Ralpho crash
RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Police here are investigating a one-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Route 61 and Overlook Boulevard that resulted in minor injuries to an 18-year-old Mount Carmel man.
Ralpho Township police reported Justin M. Hines was driving a Jeep Cherokee on Route 61 at 3:20 p.m. when he attempted to turn left onto Overlook Boulevard and lost control of his vehicle, which crashed into a utility pole.
Hines suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel before later being transported by a private vehicle to a local hospital, where he underwent emergency room treatment.
Assisting at the scene were Elysburg Ambulance personnel, members of Ralpho Fire Company and fire police.
Charges pending
CASS TOWNSHIP - State police at Frackville reported multiple traffic citations will be filed against Michael Sterner, 32, of Gordon, in connection with an accident early Sunday morning along Highridge Road (Route 4007), approximately one-quarter mile south of Keystone Boulevard.
Police said Sterner was driving a 2003 Nissan Sentra north at 3:30 a.m. when his car exited the east side of the road and struck a guard rail with its front end before continuing north for approximately 15 feet, spinning clockwise and coming to rest partially on the road.
Police said Sterner then fled the scene.
His car sustained moderate front-end damage and required towing.
Sterner, who was not wearing a seat belt, escaped injury.
Driver charged
NEW CASTLE TOWNSHIP - Brandon R. Lafferty, 18, of Minersville, was charged by state police at Frackville with hit and run, driving at an unsafe speed and driving under suspension relating to a one-car accident early Sunday morning on Greenbury Road in this Schuylkill County township.
Police said Lafferty, who was operating a 2003 Subaru Legacy registered to Trista Lecher, of Minersville, was initially traveling east on Valley Road just after midnight when he lost control of his vehicle. Instead of traveling around a sharp right curve in the road, Lafferty said he decided to travel onto Greenbury Road because he was driving too fast.
Police said the car entered a property at 101 Greenbury Road and drove over the lawn before hitting a small drainage ditch and going into a wooded area, where it struck several trees.
Lafferty fled the scene and couldn't be located.
The car sustained extensive front-end damage and required towing.
During a follow-up investigation, police learned that Lafferty was the driver of the auto. He was not injured in the accident.
Retail theft
MONROE TOWNSHIP - Matthew Clark, 25, of Montoursville, was charged by state police at Selinsgrove with retail theft for allegedly stealing eight to 10 DVDs valued at $40 from Wal-Mart at 980 N. Susquehanna Trail at 2:39 p.m. Sunday.
Drug charges
MONROE TOWNSHIP - Diana Eister, 18, of Sunbury, has been charged by state police at Selinsgrove with retail theft, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia involving an incident at 5 p.m. Friday at Wal-Mart.
Police said Eister attempted to steal items valued at $45.68.
Break-ins
TREVORTON - Zerbe Township Police are seeking information on an attempted residential break-in and a vehicle break-in that occurred early Saturday on the 400 block of West Market Street.
A vehicle parked near 426 W. Market St. was entered about 1:30 a.m. but nothing was stolen, police said.
At approximately 3:10 a.m., someone was heard rattling and slamming the basement door of 425 W. Market St., according to police.
